Webale Kwiko!

...8-hr drive to Entebbe...
...9-hr flight to London...
...8-hr 12-hr layover in Heathrow...
...9 1/2-hr flight to Atlanta
...1-hr wait for our bags to not arrive...
...4 hrs of sleep + laughter + cinnamon buns...
...2 1/2 hr drive to Birmingham (+ Chik-Fil-A)...
...5-hr drive to Louisiana...

...all to say
"Webale Kwiko"
to some people who least expected to see us...

The plan to return home over Christmas has actually only been in the works for barely a month now. Upon returning to Bundibugyo post-miscarriage, after an exhausting first year in Africa, we began to think about what would help "fill our cups" in the upcoming season. As we prayed, discussed, and sought counsel, it was decided that we needed to be surrounded by family, friends, and outside counselors that could help us debrief, reflect, and re-charge our batteries for ministry in Uganda.

And, so, here we are
...thanks to 2 mischievous brother-in-laws who helped pull off the caper of the century.

I know it isn't even worth the comparison, but I can't imagine what it must have been like to be the God of the Universe and planning the biggest rescue mission since the beginning of Time. Silence for over 400 years (I could barely keep silent for a day due to excitement and anticipation...), then executing the climax of all history, the biggest surprise ever to come to un-suspecting mankind, to His children whom He loved so deeply and personally, and missed so greatly. This past week has been the height of joy, the culmination that only months of separation from loved ones could bring about, and it was absolutely perfect. Rich food, deep laughter, old traditions, and new memories. The more I experience these precious gifts from an amazing God, the more at a loss I am to understand the love He has for us in sending His only Son to deliver the greatest message in the most surprising way at the perfect time.

Jet lag?
Indigestion?
Freezing cold temps?
..(even though its in the 70's)...

Sure, I'll take it, because
This is Life.
{and He has come.}

Merry Christmas
