A Large Scope of Vision

 Meet WHM Team Bundi
(have you always thought that "missionaries" are one weird breed? Well, they are!!!)

Over the next 5 days I am going to be blogging about the different ministries that our team in Bundibugyo is involved in. Since Derek and I are involved in healthcare, most of what we discuss with people has to do with the goings-on at the Nyahuka Health Center, the health needs, and what we will be doing there. However, our life in Bundibugyo is going to be so much more than that, and we will actually have a hand in all other aspects of ministry as well! Hopefully, this introduction will give you a better scope of the wider goals our team is trying to accomplish in the area, and what role we will play in helping to meet them.

To begin with, our "mission" is to lay down our lives to proclaim the kingdom of Jesus Christ through preaching, healing, and equipping. The model of preaching, healing, and equipping comes from Jesus himself, as we look at his own ministry while here on earth. Through His example, we are continually to be about preaching the Word of God (evangelism), healing (through medicine and prayer), and equipping (through discipleship, education, and leadership development). Every member of our team, regardless of role or function, partakes in preaching, healing, and equipping. And naturally, as all teams work, the "gifts" of each team member overlap into service of other team members' primary ministries as well.

A perfect example of this is how Josh, our team's water engineer (and lead man in facilitating the access of clean drinking water to the area), is lending his expertise over at Christ School Bundibugyo (CSB), which is presently in great need of an alternative water source since theirs will soon be compromised with the coming of the new road through Bundibugyo. Additionally, Jessica  (one of our team physicians), who primarily works at the health center, is also helping re-start the BundiNutrition project (with our other teammate Chrissy and new intern Alisha) to help children on the borderline of severe acute malnutrition stay out of the inpatient health center and get treatment from home. Lesley, whose focus is on agriculture development, is assisting with Christ School Farms, a division of CSB, that teaches students (and laypeople) how to grow nutritious foods. These are just a few examples... Through their daily interactions and partnerships with their Ugandan neighbors and co-workers, all these members are sharing the Gospel, involved with personal discipleship and Bible study, learning the language and culture, and meeting real needs with the love of Jesus.

So, without further ado, we will now highlight the ministry of
Christ School Bundibugyo...
