Support Update

I thought I would give an update on how support-raising is going, since we've had people ask recently, and since we've really been encouraged to see God working in the hearts of the people He is calling to join our team!

Our first fundraising goal to reach was to be at 20% of our monthly support by the end of May. I thought this would be absolutely impossible since between the 2 of us we were working 7 days/wk during the month of April, Derek had a work conference scheduled, and I was entering my third trimester of pregnancy and still chasing around a 20-month old during the week. Where was the time to dedicate to support-raising? Thankfully, we've been reminded that it is not us who is in charge of "recruiting funds", but a God who works all things according to His good & perfect will. So, here is where we stand at the end of our first deadline:

Factual7% of our monthly need has been met
9% of our one-time need has been met

Theoretical: 20% of our monthly need has been pledged (woo-hoo!)
9% of our one-time need has been met

Now, let me explain the difference between "Factual" & "Theoretical".
Factual means exactly as it sounds: money that is currently coming in to our account on a monthly basis or has been donated to our "one-time account". Since we are not on the field yet, where do these "monthly funds" go to? They go to our "one-time account" to help meet the one-time needs we will have to actually get us to Africa. So, it's an added blessing when people can start supporting us even now because it is helping to meet not only our monthly need when we are there, but our one-time need to get there!

Theoretical includes verbal pledges that individuals or churches have made that just have not started yet. Some people who are a part of our support team are not at the point of being able to begin their financial giving right now, and that is okay! We still factor in how much they anticipate giving, and add that "theoretically" to our figures.

So, there you have it. If you have not received a support packet in the mail from us and would like to know more about what we'll be doing and how you can join our support team, please shoot us an email or send us a facebook message! We are not sending out support packets "in mass" because it would be completely overwhelming to follow up with that many people soon afterwards. And we want to follow up with you soon after we send the support packet so that we can answer any questions you may have and find out how you would specifically like to partner with us to serve the Babwisi people in Bundibugyo. This ministry is as much about you as it is about us.  So, if you are wondering if/when a support packet is coming your way, know that we would love to get one to you- just contact us and we'll put it in the mail!
